Fjordscene v.4? – New and Better Design

In all honesty, I am not sure how many designs I’ve gone through in the 9 years I’ve had this site. In the beginning, it was all fun and games and I never thought of saving screenshots.

I do remember the very first iteration – a hideous teal background with white text. It was 2011, and it seemed super cool. In hindsight, it was probably a hellish reading experience for the users.

The longest-running design is this:

Fjordscene, as it looked before I rewrote it from the ground up, and changd servers, in March 2018.

That design lasted at least three years, and served its purpose well.

However, when I grew fed up with the limitations of the hosted solution behind it, and finally found the time to move servers to something better, and rewrite the entire website from the ground up in early 2018, it ended up looking like this:

Fjordscene as it looked from March 2018 to April 2019.

Not the best design, but migrating the content had taken all out of me, really. I didn’t have the energy to revisit it after that.

Now, however, for a while I had been quietly fuming about lacking functionality such as featured content – and had also wanted a more readable layout. So I did what I had to do.

As of the 29th of April 2019 – the site has come to this:

Fjordscene – 29/4 – 2019 and onwards…

Now, I’m not saying that this is perfect (it totally isn’t, and I can see many things that need touching up) but it is a major improvement overall.

The remaining details I will get to in due time.

If you have any ideas to improve the design even further, leave me a comment down below, or use the contact form. Feedback from users is greatly appreciated. ?
